Squaw Valley/ Creek Reservoir

Squaw Creek Reservoir is a private reservoir constructed in 1952. At that time, negotiations with the landowner resulted in public access to the reservoir. The Nevada Department of Wildlife stocked cutthroat trout for angling and for use as a brood stock source, providing eggs for hatchery rearing. However, egg harvest was never very successful and the effort was abandoned. Since then, the reservoir has been managed as a put-and-take trout fishery and a general warm water fishery.

Fishing Report

Fishing has been good at squaw for both trout and bass this spring. Trout fishing has been best near the dam where deep water is a little easier to find. Bass fishing has been good along the tule near the inlet. Crawlers off the bottom will produce both the warm and cold water species at Squaw. Boat fisherman have been doing well trolling plugs or large streamer flies in open water.
